Kaira Looro Architecture Competition is a prestigious contest open to students and young architects worldwide. As a completely non-profit initiative, all proceeds are donated to the humanitarian projects of the Balouo Salo organization 📍
Every year, the competition highlights a pressing humanitarian issue that needs attention and supports the adoption of sustainable architecture models to improve living conditions in developing countries. Notably, the winning project from 2022 is currently under construction, and the 2021 project will start soon.
This year’s Kaira Looro Competition focused on designing a 'Maternity Centre' in Southern Senegal. The goal was to create a safe haven where women can receive essential medical care in optimal sanitary conditions, supported by qualified medical staff.
The competition attracted many talented students and young architects from around the world, each showcasing innovative and sustainable architectural solutions. We congratulate all of them on their outstanding achievements, and look forward to seeing the winning designs brought to life with sustainable technologies and local materials.
