TerraViva Competitions has launched Laguna Vere, an international architecture competition that invites participants to breathe new life into a spectacular brutalist complex in Tbilisi, Georgia. Once an aquatic sports facility, Laguna Vere now stands in a state of alarming abandonment, its raw concrete forms weathered by time but still a powerful architectural presence. This competition offers an extraordinary opportunity to redefine its future, transforming it into a space that resonates with contemporary needs while respecting its bold heritage.
The competition welcomes both low and high impact transformations, with no strict limitations on the scale of intervention. The jury will assess all proposals on equal terms, whether they involve subtle enhancements or bold reinventions.
While encouraging creative expression, the competition requires preserving Laguna Vere's original architectural elements, honoring its brutalist heritage while integrating forward-thinking solutions. Designers must balance conservation with innovation, celebrating the past while guiding the site toward renewed relevance.
The competition is open to architects, landscape designers, interior designers, students, enthusiasts, engineers, artists, makers, and anyone interested in architecture and design. Participants may join either individually or as part of a team.
Toffu users will receive a special 20% discount with code: TOFFUXLGV. Additionally, registrants will get the Laguna Vere Kit curated specifically for this competition for free!
