Architects are renowned for designing iconic chairs that represent their distinct philosophies in architectural design. Visionaries like Ray and Charles Eames, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, and Arne Jacobsen have all created signature chair designs. Now, the Architect's Chair Competition invites architects and designers to create their own iconic chair, showcasing their creativity and innovative spirit.
‘‘Inspired by the tradition of iconic architects creating custom furniture as an extension of their architectural vision, this competition challenges participants to distill their design approach into a single piece – the architect's chair.’’
Note that competition is open to all. No specific professional qualification is required. Only requirement is to ‘‘push boundaries and delve into product design. This is a chance to craft a signature chair that embodies your unique style while contributing to the ongoing dialogue between architecture and design.’’ Participants are encourage to use innovative materials, construction techniques, and ergonomic solutions in their signature piece of furniture.
