TerraViva challenged designers to reimagine an abandoned lighthouse as a boutique hotel capturing the Mediterranean spirit. Located in the Tremiti Islands, the Lighthouse Hotel competition focused on transforming the structure's interior and surrounding into a serene retreat that harmoniously blends simplicity, elegance, and coastal beauty. The competition emphasized the importance of local materials and natural light, while celebrating the lighthouse's role as both symbol and space. It highlighted how adaptive reuse can preserve heritage while creating unique hospitality experiences.
The designs transformed the lighthouse into a symbol of inspiration, showing how architecture can blend history, nature, and modern living. Toffu congratulates all participants for their outstanding contributions! ✨💫

3rd Runner-Up
The Mith Of Lighthouse
Sara Masi, Alessandro Smeraldi, Federico Zelano [Italy]
Jury Comment
‘‘This design proposal showcases an impressive sense of spatial organization, particularly in the common areas. The use of large arched openings provides a visual continuity throughout the living spaces, making them feel expansive and cohesive. The design beautifully translates the conceptual narrative into a tangible and well-executed formal outcome. In the suites, the visual connections and generous openings enhance the perception of spaciousness, creating a light and airy atmosphere. Additionally, the bold use of colors injects a contemporary vibrancy, making the spaces highly photogenic and visually engaging. The bichromy of the two suits give to both of them a specific language yet keeping them part of one coherent design strategy (…).’’
